A Thankful Mother Returned To Life

As we draw near to Thanksgiving in the United States, we wanted to share Omrit Israelovich Shefer’s story with you. She is a mother from western Israel, near the coast. Today she is feeling very thankful for you.

Just a few weeks ago she was in the middle of an aerobics training course in Netanya, Israel, when she suddenly went into cardiac arrest.

You Helped Save A 4-Year-Old Boy

This summer on a Saturday afternoon, Sarit Bar, a MAGEN DAVID ADOM EMT was relaxing at home in northern Israel. Her first responder app sounded, alerting her to a medical emergency nearby.

This cutting-edge app was developed in-house by MAGEN DAVID ADOM’s team of 45 programmers — in addition to alerting Sarit, the app geolocated the four other nearest first responders and also alerted them.

A Child Brought Back to Life

A few weeks ago in Jerusalem an energetic 6-year-old boy, Meir Itzkovitch, was playing with some friends from the neighborhood. He decided to try to climb up the wall of a building.

When Meir’s mother, Chaya, saw what he was doing, she called to him to stop and climb down. As she got closer, she discovered he was unconscious, holding an electric power pole. He was not breathing and had no pulse.

Chaya ran home with her son limp in her arms and dialed for help.

You may have heard about the attack in an orthodox synagogue near San Diego during the Saturday morning Sabbath service on the final day of Passover this year.

This attack came exactly six months after the deadly attack on the Pittsburgh synagogue that killed 11 worshippers.

Israel is Saving Lives in Mozambique

Today MAGEN DAVID ADOM is saving lives in Mozambique.

When a cyclone hit Mozambique a few months ago — killing hundreds and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless and hungry — MAGEN DAVID ADOM immediately sent help to International Red Cross officials to set up a field hospital and coordinate relief efforts over the next four months.

Saving Lives in America Also

Since two of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history occurred in Florida recently, MAGEN DAVID ADOM came to America to conduct mass casualty response training for Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe EMTs and law-enforcement officials.

“South Florida is faced with an increasing number of situations that could result in a high number of casualties,” said Gina Beato-Dominguez, a lieutenant with the Miami-Dade Police Department.
